The filament Spectrum WOOD is a material designed for 3D printing based on pure PLA blended with ground wood particles. Besides the visual aspects which imitate the appearance of wood, items manufactured of this material have a structure resembling the one of chipboards. The material has a unique quality: not only does it look like wood but it also feels like genuine wood. You may varnish finished prints and conduct mechanical treatments. Another distinctive feature is the specific smell of wood exuded during the additive manufacturing process using this material. The material combines the advantages of thermoplastics and wood, which enables you to produce items which provide both good thermal insulation and very high moisture resistance.

  • very good thermal insulation properties,

  • a high moisture resistance,
  • mechanical properties close to those of PLA plus improved impact resistance,
  • the possibility of mechanical working i.e. grinding, and
  • very low shrinkage and high adhesion both between layers and between build platforms of additive manufacturing equipment and printed items.
The properties shown attract the attention of entities dealing in decorative art and manufacture of all kinds of figurines and which use modern construction materials combining the advantages of plastics and natural materials.
